Alan Dworkin

Alan is co-owner and Gala-Tec’s President. A true Apple believer, Alan’s experience dates to 1984 when he got his first Apple IIc. Back in those early days, computers had 12-inch green phosphorous monitors, which didn’t provide the complete computer experience Alan wanted. What did he do? He hooked his Apple IIc up to his 50-inch rear projection television. As he likes to say, “That was what I was looking for!”

Sixteen years later, Alan made the leap from amateur Apple geek to professional Apple geek when he founded AJD Computer Specialist, Inc. He began his longstanding business relationship with Apple in 2000 through the Apple Mentoring Program and built the business from there through sales to private clients and small businesses.

Alan is an absolute genius when it comes to recommending the best products to meet every customer’s individual needs because he knows the products Gala-Tec carries inside and out, and his goal is to build long-term relationships rather than to over or under sell.

Alan’s Apple Certifications include:

  • ASTO – Apple Sales Training Online Apple Product Professional
  • ACSP 10.12 – Apple Certified Support Professional
  • MIB 10.12 – Apple Certified Associate Mac Integration

James Dworkin

James is co-owner and Gala-Tec’s Chief Operating Officer. Alan likes to call him owner in training because he’s Alan and Lisa’s son. James’ interest in, and knowledge of, technology goes back almost as many years as he’s been alive. He started playing games on a Macintosh computer while sitting in his mother’s lap and has never looked back. When he was in high school he bought used video game systems, rebuilt them, and sold them at a profit. Thus began his career as a technology entrepreneur. James is as comfortable advising customers on what products best suit their needs as he is servicing equipment and teaching people how to use the latest technology. He’s Gala-Tec’s all around go-to guy.

Prior to co-founding Gala-Tec, James worked at Verizon on the wireline services team in inside sales where he was in charge of sales and relationships of 37 high revenue accounts. He has a business management degree from Arizona State University’s W.P. Carey School of Business.

James’ Apple Certifications include:

  • ASTO – Apple Sales Training Online Apple Product Professional
  • ACSP 10.12 – Apple Certified Support Professional
  • MIB 10.12 – Apple Certified Associate Mac Integration
  • ACMT – Apple Certified Mac Technician

Buster Blocker

Buster is Gala-Tec’s Service Director. Although he’s not a Dworkin, he and Alan have known each other for years as a result of their work with Apple. They even worked together at AJD Computer Specialist, Inc.

Buster’s technical knowledge is deep as well as broad. He was a computer technician for the Bettendorf Iowa Community School District for over 7 years, and he was the technology specialist at Dillingham City School District in Dillingham, Alaska for over 3 years prior to moving back to the Lower 48 in August 2015 when Gala-Tec opened its doors for business.

Buster’s Apple Certifications include:

  • ASTO – Apple Sales Training Online Apple Product Professional
  • ACSP 10.12 – Apple Certified Support Professional
  • MIB 10.12 – Apple Certified Associate Mac Integration
  • ACMT – Apple Certified Mac Technician
  • ACTC – Apple Certified Technical Coordinator

Lisa Dworkin

Lisa is co-owner and Gala-Tec’s Director of Communications. She’s also the weak link technology-wise, but luckily she makes up for that with other useful skills. Her diverse background includes futures trading, teaching, curriculum design, and content writing. What ties these things together are her strong written and verbal communication abilities and her interest in lifelong learning.

If you’re looking for someone to explain Gala-Tec’s products — or technology in general — in layman’s terms, Lisa’s the person for you.
